History 101

This ad for a GPS says "BEHIND EVERY GREAT EXPLORER IS A GREAT NAVIGATOR."
That'd be a great slogan if this were a picture of an explorer.
But, this is a picture of General George Washington crossing the Delaware River on Christmas to surprise attack the hired Hessian soldiers during the Revolutionary War.
Most of us learned that in the 4th grade.
Except for the ad execs behind this ad, I guess.

"hired Hessian soldiers?" Smells like someone's been googling.

not on this topic...
that's actually all directly out of my nerd-alert brain.
actually, most of the stuff you'd find on the crossing of the delaware would probably not even mention that the soldiers he was going to fight were hired. but, they were. they were a mix of british soldiers and hired Germans (Hessians).
OMG. I AM SUCH A DORK.
i'll stop.
someone needs a boyfriend...

Okay. You win. I thought I had the most accessible useless knowledge and bits of trivia in my brain. But no. You definitely win. Thanks for schooling us!

Not to spoil your nerdtastic nerdathon, but that painting was actually altered from its original form. The original looked something more along the lines of http://superwashington.ytmnd.com/.

i'm not surprised that Mio would make such a mistake. their devices suck. stick with garmin. give-a give-a give-a garmin. there's a moose again. (yes, i'm a garmin stockholder).

If the someone who needs a boyfriend is you who needs a boyfriend, I have decided to acquiesce.
Let me know if you're into it. Oh, but no Hessians please. I don't hire people for these things.

Idiots have made into our workforce. I'll never forget the Subaru I rented with a cup holder right above the radio. I had to take my cup of coffee out every-time I wanted to change the radio station-brillant engineering.
